ODCCA
The mission of the Ohio Decoy Collectors and Carvers is to promote the preservation of our waterfowl heritage through collecting of old decoy and creation of new decoys. We recognize the artistry and craftsmanship of decoys and their uniqueness as American Folk Art. We also strive to convey an appreciation of our wetlands and it contribution to our environment.
Collectors of Vintage decoys, carvers, artists, and those who love waterfowl from all over the United States and Canada will gather to attend seminars conducted by masters, compete, buy, sell, and trade at the 36th Annual Waterfowl Art Show and Decoy Competition, March 9th – 10th, 2013. This event is held annually at the Strongsville Holiday Inn, Strongsville, Ohio located just 15 minutes south of Cleveland off of Interstate Route 71.
Many of the world’s finest carvers, experts of collectable waterfowl decoys, waterfowl artists and children will attend the many events that will be held Friday through Sunday. Collectors, carvers, and wildlife artists will be displaying and selling their hunting decoys, wildlife art work, song birds, shore birds, pins, and jewelry during the show. There will be dealers selling carving tools, paints and brushes, wood, and patterns and vintage decoys (pre 1950). This event is featured in national publications and have earned their endorsement as “The Learning Place” because of the many seminars on collecting, carving, and painting held throughout the weekend. Miniature doves on a barbed wire fence - 2021
Dead swan miniature 2020.
Dead ruffed grouse for ODCCA cocktail bird contest 2020.
Owen requested a ring-necked pheasant this year as his "choice" for a carving. The bird is running toward safer ground past the no hunting sign into the refuge. Keep moving Owen - We are on a mission to outrun Duchenne!!
"Owen's Choice" 2016 is a Bald Eagle carving which was created at the request of Owen Dumm for the July 9, 2016 J.O.A. fund raiser to find a cure for Duchene's Muscular Dystrophy. A hen King Salmon was added to the carving, using photos taken of fish caught by the Dumm Family on the Pere Marquette River in Michigan.
"Owen's Choice 2015" Every year I give my little buddy Owen his choice of birds for me to carve for his fundraiser to raise money to find a cure for Duchene's Muscular Dystrophy through JOA or John Owen's Adventure. Every year Owen tests me with carving a bird outside of wheel house. This year he wanted Velociraptor. While a raptor is a bird, this is not! I hope this raises a lot of money for your cause little buddy!!! www.joainc.org (July 11, 2015).

The rules for the 'Cocktail Bird' contest at the Ohio Decoy Show say it must be a bird that can fit in a cocktail glass. So I carved a dead bird that looked like it was stuffed in a glass. This Lesser Yellowlegs was donated to the ODCCA fund raiser for their auction that helps cover costs for the show.
